  how about holds for security (background check) reasons? my case is a bit different. i passed the interview for F1 visa. but since i was arrested jan 13 2006 (but not convicted ... the case was not even registered in the court hence dismissed), the consular is further looking into the matter.... what makes my case worse is that my arrest was for controlled substance. now i just want my passport back since i am scheduled to travel to UK from work later this week. any idea what i should do?

 Best thing to do would be postpone your visit to Uk.looks like you can get a visa after they do their investigation. Keep calling them each day and ask for any progress made.
